This presentation will help clinicians recognize the clinical features of episodic syndromes in children that are associated with migraine, including infantile colic, benign paroxysmal torticollis, benign paroxysmal vertigo, abdominal migraine, and cyclical vomiting syndrome. It will review the clinical evaluation of these syndromes, evidence-based treatment strategies to improve outcomes, and explore the pathophysiological mechanisms that link these syndromes to migraine.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize the clinical presentation of 5 episodic syndromes that may be associated with migraine including infantile colic, benign paroxysmal torticollis, benign paroxysmal vertigo, abdominal migraine, cyclical vomiting syndrome.
Describe the clinical evaluation and evidence-based treatment strategies for each of these episodic syndromes.
Discuss the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms that link these episodic syndromes with migraine.
