Session: Frontiers in Headache Research Award Presentation and Lectures
Oral Presentation 2: Quality Improvement Analysis of Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Management: Adherence to Evidence-Based Care Standards in an Outpatient Neurology Practice
Neurology Resident University of South Florida Tampa, Florida, United States
Attendees will learn how to systematically evaluate and improve evidence-based care delivery for patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) in outpatient neurology practice. This session presents findings from a comprehensive 76-patient retrospective analysis that identified critical care gaps across six key management domains, including pharmacological management, sleep apnea screening, and neuro-ophthalmology referral/monitoring. Participants will take away practical quality improvement strategies and targeted interventions that address safety risks, improve patient outcomes, and provide replicable frameworks for implementing systematic IIH care improvements in a neurology practice.
Learning Objectives:
Describe evidence-based care standards for comprehensive IIH management in outpatient neurology practice.
Identify critical gaps in IIH management, including pharmacological management protocols and weight loss counseling.
Develop targeted quality improvement interventions to address identified care gaps and improve standardized IIH care.
