Marcela Romero-Reyes, DDS, PhD

Dr. Marcela Romero Reyes is a clinical professor and Director of the Brotman Facial Pain Clinic at the Department of Neural and Pain Sciences, University of Maryland, School of Dentistry in Baltimore. She is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the fields of orofacial pain and headache disorders. Dr. Romero has been distinguished by the prestigious Steven B. Graff-Radford Orofacial Pain and Headache lectureship by the AHS in recognition of a prominent status and contributions to the field of orofacial pain and headache research. She is also the co-editor of the current 7th edition of the AAOP Orofacial Pain, Guidelines for Assessment, Diagnosis and Management. Dr. Romero’s research involves neuro-immune and nitroxidative mechanisms in orofacial pain and headache, discovery of new management targets for trigeminal neuropathic pains, headache, and TMD and migraine comorbidity and their translation to the clinical setting, in addition to non-pharmacological approaches.
